About Content Transfer
Content transfer is the process of taking the text and images from an existing website and placing them on the appropriate pages on your new Sofie Systems website.
When determining who should do this task, consider the following issues:
* If we do the transfer, we will be converting the existing content to plain text, allowing the templates to establish the basic design and styles. Deviation from the style sheets, like bold and italic within paragraphs, will not be preserved.
* Since your existing website and your new site will be accessible by your web browser, it's a fairly easy job to copy/paste for the old to the new.
* However, if you have a large site, this can be a time-consuming and monotonous job.
* If we do the transfer, you will still need to check each page for outdated information and formatting issues.
* The built-in editor in Sofie Systems has two special paste icons, paste-as-pure-text and paste-as-MS-Word document.
* If more than 50% of your existing website will not be used for one reason or another, it's probably not worth having us do the transfer.
About Design Process
Designing for Sofie Systems has several tiers of complexity, beginning with very easy with little control, to complete-control but more complex.
When determining who should do this task, consider the following issues:
* To do it yourself, you will need the ability (skill) to create and manipulate images. This usually means working with a software program like Adobe Photoshop or whatever program came with your digital camera.
* It helps to understand style sheets, however you can just select from a variety of style sheets.
* Very specialized layouts require working with HTML, the tagging language used to create web pages.
